Monticello Media is a Charlottesville-based company formed solely to purchase and operate six radio stations in Charlottesville as of October 2007. We do not have radio stations in any other markets. Our only focus and interest is serving Charlottesville area listeners and businesses. As a privately-held company, we don't have to weigh the whims of Wall Street against the needs of the constituents we serve.
Monticello Media's station mix is based on custom research conducted in the Charlottesville market. Our stations are designed to satisfy the interest and desires of our community and to allow area businesses to reach the most desirable consumers.
I am writing as the President of Monticello Media, our six station radio group in Charlottesville, VA. Monticello Media is "un-corporate" radio. It is owned by my wife (Loree) and I, and our partners, Paul and Suzanne Stone. We have no corporate office (unless you count my office at home). We take our public service requirements very seriously. We believe in local radio. Local news, local entertainment, local information, local personalities, local public service. If it happens in Cville, we want to be a part of it. We believe that you can get music anywhere; it is other elements which make the difference and keep you coming back. We have a great staff. You've probably been listening to many of our on-air personalities for years. We want to make a good thing even better.
