"Righting" the Ship library
NHS dentistry reforms 'failing'
Socialized medicine advocates in this country often refer to England's system. Maybe we ought to have them read this and other stories just like it...
"What kind of country are we, anyhow?"
A marvelous video that breaks down what type of Government the founding fathers' set up (republic) and how it compares to others in the world. It's "must-see-TV" for kids, liberals and any other impressionable minds....
Al Gore... "Carbon Bigfoot"

The Nobel Prize winning former VP finds it easier to tell us that we need to be 'green' that it is to green himself. Maybe the kids keep forgetting to shut off the bathroom lights.... (click here to read the full article)

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

60% of Americans Favor Domestic Oil Drilling
Oops! Looks like the Congress better call the folks at Zogby who can tell them that President Bush and the "drill now, drill here" supporters have a better feel for what Americans want. (click here to read the full story)
Maybe the Senate should order more pork...
Senate Votes To Privatize Its Failing Restaurants (click to read the full article)

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairman of the Rules and Administrations Committee, which oversees the operation of the Senate, said she had no choice. "It's cratering," she said of the restaurant system. "Candidly, I don't think the taxpayers should be subsidizing something that doesn't need to be. There are parts of government that can be run like a business and should be run like businesses."
**Dianne... Maybe there are business that SHOULDN'T be run by Government!!

Conservation Easements Not What They Used to Be...

According to a new report by the National Center for Public Policy Research titled, "Conservation Easements: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," all-too-often that acquired land, placed under "conservation easements," goes from the land trust right into the governing hands of the largest landowner in the United States, the federal government. (Click here to hear Joe Thomas' visit with the researcher that uncovered this scandal.)

Liberal vs. Liberal
"Only in California"(?) Read the sad story of a green-guy who installed solar panels, then sued his neighbors because their redwood trees (which were there when "Captain Eco" installed the panels) were blocking his sun. The judge agreed and here's what one state senator has proposed: "On Monday, state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, introduced a bill that would change California law so that anybody whose trees were planted before a neighbor's solar panels were installed can't be required to cut them back or chop them down." Wow...
Amish community told technology-free wastewater treatment no good
Hundreds of years of 'taking care of their own business' is aparently not good enough for Pennsylvania. (You'd think they, above anyone else, would understand how the Amish Community rolls....)
Government requires lifeguard for wading pool!
Long revered for their social conciousness (Socialized Medicine, etc...) British authorities have now told this grandmother that she must hire a lifeguard for her backyard wading pool... Favorite quote: Local magistrate says; "We did not have sufficient assurances that the risks associated with providing such a facility would be well-managed.We have since spoken to Ms Maxwell and she is aware of our concerns for child safety and the risks associated with drowning." **Warning, this pool is not as deep as the average bathtub...
Where does all the school funding go, if we need to charge fees?
In a new report was released Wednesday, members of the Just Children Program say that an increasing number of schools across Virginia are charging students to be in the classroom. *(School funding is 43% of theAlbemarle County FY 2008/2009 Budget)
Retired nuns barred from voting in Indiana
A caller on Thursday, 5/22/08, referenced this story as an example of how REPUBLICANS are trying to disenfranchise voters. I guess we really do need to work on teaching our kids how to read...
Charlottesville Homeless Shelter to Close in June
Liberals close a homeless shelter that 'teaches a man to fish' instead of just 'giving him a fish'...
So, instead of the Hope Community Center we get this?
Mayor Norris announced that the City is planning a 60 room S.R.O. Homeless center and hopes to get about 70 percent of the funding through federal grants. *(read: taxpayers money). The rest of the money would "have to come from the community."
*(As far as I can tell, the Hope Community Center was self funded.)
Rush to Judgement
